Getting Started
What is Satsang?
Satsang means "being in the company of truth." It is a gathering where seekers sit with an awakened teacher for direct transmission, silent meditation, and open inquiry. This is not philosophy, peer discussion, or technique-based instruction – it is the wordless sharing of presence that points beyond concepts to what you actually are.
Inner Peace Foundation holds multiple Satsang sessions weekly – in Perth, Yallingup, Fremantle, and online via Zoom worldwide.
What happens at a Satsang session?
Each session runs approximately 75 minutes and follows a natural flow:
- Silent meditation – Settling into presence before the teaching
- Dharma discourse – Rohan speaks directly from awakened knowing, not scripted content
- Open inquiry – Bring your questions, obstacles, and experiences
- Direct transmission – Not philosophy, but actual pointing to your true nature
Sessions are interactive, not passive lectures. The atmosphere is welcoming – there's no pressure to speak or participate beyond sitting quietly.
Do I need meditation experience?
No prior experience is needed for Satsang. For retreats, some meditation background is helpful but not required. Private sessions are suitable for all levels. The only prerequisite is sincerity and willingness to look within.
How do I know if I'm ready?
If you're asking, you're probably ready. This work is for those who sense something deeper is possible and are willing to question everything they believe themselves to be. If you're at the precipice of getting serious about inner freedom – if you sense that what you've been seeking isn't found in books, apps, or peer discussions – come to Satsang once and see.
What should I expect at my first Satsang?
Arrive a few minutes early. Sessions begin with silent meditation, followed by teaching from Rohan, and open inquiry where you can ask questions or simply listen. You don't need to bring anything except yourself. Wear comfortable clothing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Can I attend retreats online?
Yes. Most participants join via Zoom from their home – USA, Europe, Asia, Australia. Transmission works equally well online. Students report the same depth of experience as in-person retreats. You create silence in your own space while connecting with Rohan and the group via screen.
How is this different from Goenka Vipassana?
While rooted in Vipassana, these retreats include live teaching and personal guidance from an awakened teacher. Goenka courses use recorded discourses with assistant teachers who haven't necessarily completed the path themselves.
Here you work directly with Rohan – someone who has attained what Goenka's teachings point toward and can see and address your specific patterns. Rohan attended Vipassana retreats in Brookton near Perth in the 1990s during his own seeking, and now shares these techniques combined with direct transmission.
Do I need to attend Satsang before a retreat?
Yes, it's very important you attend a Satsang or two before booking a retreat. This ensures you're familiar with Rohan's approach and that retreat is the right next step. The cost of your first Satsang can be credited toward retreat fees.
Is it really silent the whole time?
Noble silence is encouraged and maintained between sessions – this includes minimal phone use, no casual conversation, and limiting reading/writing. The silence is essential; it allows the mind to settle and deeper seeing to occur. You will speak during Satsang sessions and individual guidance with Rohan.
What's included in a retreat?
Online: Up to 4 interactive Satsangs with Rohan daily, individual guidance as needed, full schedule provided.
In-Person: Accommodation, vegetarian meals, all teaching, meditation supplies. Detailed packing lists sent upon registration.
What if I have health conditions?
Please discuss any physical or mental health conditions before booking. Retreats are intensive and may not be suitable for everyone. If you are very emotionally challenged or unstable, this deep inner work may not be appropriate. No drugs or alcohol are permitted. We want to ensure the experience supports your wellbeing.
Private Sessions
What happens in a private session?
Private sessions are 60 minutes of focused one-to-one work via Zoom or in-person. Unlike group Satsang, Rohan addresses your specific obstacles, patterns, and situation. Sessions typically include opening meditation, inquiry into where you're stuck, direct pointing, and practical guidance for continued investigation. No two sessions are alike because no two seekers are alike.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies by individual. Some experience significant shifts in one session; others benefit from ongoing work over months or years. Rohan recommends starting with one session and seeing what unfolds. If you believe you can awaken in a meeting or two, you may be operating from false teachings – such rapid awakening is extremely rare.
Should I do Satsang or private sessions first?
Either can work. Satsang gives you a feel for Rohan's transmission style in a group setting. Private sessions offer focused individual attention. Many international students begin with private work. There's no wrong door – what matters is your sincerity.
Is Rohan accepting new students for private sessions?
Availability is limited and varies. If the booking page shows available times, sessions are open. Contact us to inquire about current availability.
About the Teaching
What is non-dual dharma?
Non-dual dharma points to the direct recognition that you are not a separate self. What you truly are is awareness itself – prior to thoughts, beliefs, and the story of "me." This isn't philosophy to understand intellectually. It's reality to recognise directly.
What tradition does Rohan teach from?
Rohan's teaching integrates multiple streams: Vipassana (insight meditation), Advaita Vedanta (non-dual wisdom), Toltec (practical ego work), and direct transmission beyond any single tradition. The approach is practical rather than dogmatic – whatever serves awakening.
How is this different from other teachers?
Three key differences:
- Live, not recorded – This is real-time transmission, not pre-recorded content like Mooji or Adyashanti's online offerings
- Verifiably awakened – 10+ years of teaching publicly documented on YouTube
- Guru-centric – Focused on ego dissolution and direct realisation, not stress reduction, wellness, or building spiritual identity
Many students who have worked with other teachers report finding a depth and directness here they couldn't access elsewhere.
Is this a religion?
No. While rooted in non-dual wisdom traditions including Buddhism and Advaita, this is not religious practice. There are no beliefs to adopt, rituals to follow, or membership requirements. You keep whatever beliefs serve you and question everything else.
What is the Buddha Field / transmission?
The Buddha Field refers to the energetic presence that emanates from someone who has genuinely awakened. It's been documented for millennia across cultures with various names. In Satsang, this presence supports your own recognition – not through words alone, but through direct transmission that works beyond the mind. Many feel it immediately; for others, sensitivity develops over time.
About Rohan & Inner Peace Foundation
What qualifies Rohan as an awakened teacher?
Rohan experienced decisive awakening after decades of intensive practice beginning with Vipassana in 1994. His first Satori occurred at age nine; a second opening at a Vipassana retreat in Brookton, near Perth. It was 17 years before unconditional peace became abiding.
His background as a marine engineer brings analytical precision to dharma teaching – systematic troubleshooting of the ego's mechanisms. He has 10+ years of publicly verifiable teaching history on YouTube. Unlike many modern teachers, his credentials are transparent and verifiable.
Is Inner Peace Foundation a legitimate organisation?
Yes. Inner Peace Foundation operates as an ABN registered sole proprietor trading name, GST registered. The 10+ year YouTube history and publicly documented teaching provide verification. We operate transparently – you can watch hundreds of hours of Rohan's teaching before committing to anything.
How can I verify this is authentic?
Watch the YouTube channel – over a decade of Satsang recordings are available free. Read reviews from students. Attend one Satsang and feel for yourself. It's never wise to blindly trust any teacher; take your time and verify through direct experience.
Is there a community?
Yes. The Sangha (community of seekers) connects through weekly Satsang, retreats, and the Patreon community where members receive additional teachings, practice resources, and connection with fellow seekers.
