In This Video:
Rohan dismantles the foundational illusion of a separate self by framing it as a game where Awareness forgets itself to play as a 'toy'. This talk reveals that suffering is perpetuated by constantly 'refreshing' the idea of being unfree through measurement and desire. The core of this pattern is the ego-structure, a 'puppet master' using cravings as strings. The Direct Path is realizing you are already free and choosing to stop being the toy when the 'juice' of attachment is finally seen as the poison it is.
- In what specific ways do I 'refresh the idea that I'm not free' through constant measuring and comparison during my day?
- What 'false narratives' about myself do I habitually believe, and what is the perceived 'juice' or payoff I get from them?
- When Rohan asks, 'When have you suffered enough?', what specific attachments or cravings immediately come to mind as the primary source of that suffering?
- Identify the 'puppet master' in action: which specific desires or aversions pull my strings and dictate my reactions?
- How can I consciously engage with one of my daily activities as 'play' without attachment, abiding as Awareness rather than identifying as the 'toy'?

[00:08] Well, what if you're already free? If you consider it, and you just all you do is keep refreshing an idea that you're not. [00:20] You constantly refresh it with your measuring. [00:26] And your idea of the last moment being this moment and that I'm somebody and this is somebody. [00:42] And then you push that into the future and then you crawl towards it. [00:59] More if all along you were you were free and you were just awareness playing a game with itself. [01:08] I'm going to forget who I am and pretend I'm something else and the game is I need to find out what I actually am. [01:22] I'm going to believe a bunch of false narratives which some people are better at than others stories. [01:31] And I need to untangle myself from that narrative, that idea. [01:42] That's the game. [01:48] And in that discovery of it, there never was an I of course. [01:53] Because awareness is talking here isn't it? Awareness is saying, I've just taken my memory from myself and pretended to be something small and taught myself to teach other aspects of myself. [02:08] To do the same thing. [02:11] Of course there wasn't a meeting with awareness having a meeting with itself, I'm just vocalizing a viewpoint. [02:27] And so then you have motivation to continue forgetting because there's some juice there you think or you see past all that at some point and you go, okay well this is all ridiculous there's nothing to do out here. It's all within me. I don't have to keep running around. [02:47] I don't have to keep shooting this, shooting that, grasping this, grasping that, being somebody or being something. I just don't have to do any of it. I'm already everything. [02:59] And that can all wait until I choose otherwise, until it just awareness just knows naturally. [03:40] That's primary. [03:46] The rest, if it's even worth it, is second. [03:59] That first bit is a reconfiguration or a recalibration of understanding and how you see everything and how everything's seen and awareness you can't know and do everything and just an okayness with things as they are, okay with now and realizing you are now. [04:18] And in a deep realization of now, there's this thing that love starts to arise and this freedom and this freshness appears in your life and all of your previous concerns and fears start to disappear and people may notice that and they go, hm what's what's going on over there? [04:46] And the lost toy of awareness. So it's the wonder, what's going on over there, that looks like fun, that looks interesting? Why are they happier than me? Why are they have more clarity than me? What is this? What is this sorcery? [05:03] But the big misconception of all this is that you you you you go from being me to something else and you don't. [05:15] You go from the me as owing there's a sense of location and you know the thoughts that may come come here. They don't, you know, it's not over there or there, they're here and there's a sense of location but that doesn't make it independent and separate. [05:32] So the the mistake from the eye we make is that when you know when you wake up and find out where you are, you wake up from the dream of a separate I. Is that now you're something else and you're not. [05:46] Because awareness doesn't have attributes. [05:58] No gun attributes. No attributes. As they would say in India, no gun. [06:09] So with no attributes, the natural frame of personality and playfulness will will will will play, we'll just dance here. [06:21] That might be a quiet person that likes not speaking. That might be somebody that's really flamboyant, rare, etcetera, etcetera. It makes no difference and everybody's going to awareness is going to present itself slightly differently to everybody so it's not comparing. [06:40] There may be some similarities of course and common things that occur and some commonalities of difficulties and highs and lows and the appearance of them but it's going to be a unique expression within each let's say toy, shall we? Within each toy. [06:58] So then because awareness is naturally uh well it has no attributes but the the the the form here is going to be naturally playful. [07:30] It's just natural to be that way. It's natural for birds to sing. [07:39] I've seen fish playing, looking down on the on the river. I've seen little fish with the pet the older fish there and the little fish lapping over a pool and going around in circles playing fish. Apparently they're unconscious. So I was told they didn't agree. [08:03] Someone forgot to tell the fish you're unconscious. You're not supposed to play. [08:57] That needs no more. But this incredible playground offers more if you so choose. Just choose not to be attached while playing. Enjoy. It's wonderful. [09:12] There's there's fun things to do, there's relationships, there's incredible beaches that might be whatever. And it doesn't matter. There's sexuality, there's all everything. You can do it. It's all play. There's no rules. [09:30] But when you're deep in this space of of what you are, there's there's you don't need rules because the heart runs the show and the heart doesn't do harm. [10:13] It feels less. If there's anything here which is reason that the center of the toy is the heart, the center of the doorway is the heart. And it's wonderful, it's beautiful. [10:30] It feels less gentle, kind, loving and for no reason. For no reason. [11:07] Just when do you want to stop being the toy and then seeing and and unpeeling it and undo it. When when will the juice of that uh be seen as as as a fraudulent like a very mild poison instead of something of sustenance. [11:39] That's the question. That's that's the fifth point. When have you suffered enough? [12:02] From your attachment to your cravings, your desires because that's what's keeping you imprisoned. There the strings of the puppet master so to speak. [12:19] And you you dance to the puppet master or you you dance in freedom. [12:30] Puppet master we call ego or I.
