Your Mind Wants This To Remain A Secret

The mind operates like a parasite, a cunning con artist keeping you from the magic within. Even its sweetest thought is a step away from Reality. Direct Realization requires inner engineering: dismantling the harshness of the Mitoté to cultivate a soft ground where presence can abide.

Your Mind Wants This To Remain A Secret

In This Video:

Rohan provides an engineering-based deconstruction of the primary obstacle to Direct Realization: the mind's own self-hiding mechanism. He frames the unobserved mind not as an enemy, but as a cunning 'nematode parasite' that occupies and distracts consciousness, perpetuating the 'greatest con'—making us forget the 'absolute magic within.' The core of the teaching is that even the sweetest thought is a step away from the ultimate truth. The skillful means offered is to 'soften the ground' by dismantling the 'Mitoté' (internal harshness, control, and pain) to create a receptive inner environment where the fragile 'yin of yin'—Beingness—can permanently abide.

  • In what ways does my mind act like a 'nematode parasite,' distracting me from Direct Presence with even the 'sweetest' thoughts?
  • Rohan states presence is fragile, 'the yin of yin.' Where in my system do I still hold the harshness (the Mitoté) that causes it to leave?
  • When I observe my internal state, can I honestly distinguish between the direct experience of reality and the subsequent thought about that reality?
  • What 'rocks and toxic plants'—deep-seated agreements and patterns—must I remove to cultivate the soft ground necessary for Beingness to remain?
  • The revelation of the mind's mechanism is called a 'cosmic joke.' Can I see the ridiculousness of getting so lost when the truth is always here, and meet it with laughter instead of sorrow?

“There’s nothing to add. What you are is prior to beliefs, thoughts and labels.
Here we explore and unveil the ultimate mystery of non-dual being.
Reality.”

TRANSCRIPT

[00:01:03] Is the mind an enemy? No, ultimately like as in in the the functional aspect of mind is not an enemy.
[00:09:47] But still it doesn't change the fact that the sweetest thought is a step away from your ultimate truth of what you are.
[00:22:74] I don't even know it exists. How crazy is that?
[00:26:40] The most amazing thing available to humans on the planet and most people don't even know about it.
[00:32:46] It's just astounding to me.
[00:39:13] So yeah, the nematode parasite
[00:43:08] doesn't let you know about it.
[00:46:58] It occupies you,
[00:48:75] keeps you distracted.
[00:54:19] How cunning it is is amazing that it's
[00:56:88] got billions of people unaware of the highest state of their being, availability, and their beauty available within them.
[01:04:84] The magic within you.
[01:06:95] Absolute magic within you.
[01:09:66] Nobody knows.
[01:13:30] Or very few know.
[01:18:78] That's the greatest con.
[01:23:67] It's the greatest con ever.
[01:28:44] The cosmic joke we just spoke about earlier on.
[01:32:44] Just the revelation of the cosmic joke of, "Oh my God,
[01:36:26] what's happened here?"
[01:39:88] How do we get so lost?
[01:47:60] How did I get so lost? was actually, how did I get so lost? How is that possible?
[01:52:21] To get that far away when it's right here?
[02:00:23] A laughter came because it's such a freedom in it as well. It's just,
[02:03:68] that's not, I've heard that a few times from different people.
[02:07:34] You just laugh.
[02:11:79] Ridiculousness of it.
[02:16:51] As there's not a little bit of sorrow in there too.
[02:32:79] You don't need to believe anyone.
[02:35:48] You just, you just keep going in, it reveals itself.
[02:40:48] You don't need a priest with a pointy hat
[02:44:03] that has a,
[02:46:44] you know, an encrypted phone to God.
[02:51:19] No one else can read the messages except him.
[02:54:85] And then it's in you.
[03:05:07] It's a beautiful thing.
[03:16:62] But do you have the gumption to
[03:19:65] go there and go through the,
[03:23:59] you know, through the mountain, I guess.
[03:28:90] Of your history.
[03:34:03] Clean, clean it up a bit until there's enough space for
[03:39:27] God, or the empress, or beingness, or whatever you want to call it, whatever silly name we invented
[03:46:89] to to remain in you without getting
[03:50:50] compressed or cut, or that it has to take off again. So it wants to stay.
[03:54:68] Can you be soft enough so it wants to stay?
[04:00:99] Because it's extremely fragile.
[04:03:84] It's the yin of yin.
[04:07:95] You jump, it leaves.
[04:17:42] You flinch, it leaves.
[04:22:04] So we have to cultivate the ground. We have to weed,
[04:28:65] take all the rocks out, all the sharp edges,
[04:31:07] all the toxic plants.
[04:43:24] Make a nice soft space.
[04:49:50] Which means the metate has to go,
[04:52:13] because that's harshness
[04:54:33] and control and power and pain.
[06:09:16] It doesn't seem to be making anybody happy.
[06:18:41] And when I say happy, I mean ongoing. Just your natural state
[06:21:77] doesn't have to be happy, but happy is a result of
[06:24:60] peace. So, let's say peace and contentment. It doesn't bring peace and contentment.
[06:30:46] The roots of happiness,
[06:34:82] true happiness.
[06:43:20] Papaji used to say, "You need to prepare yourself for the Emperor."
[06:49:03] And I would say you need to prepare yourself for the empress,
[06:53:14] because it's yin.
[06:57:07] So we soften where we can and we get
[06:59:75] learn to face the sharpness and the harshness and
[07:04:12] hunt it out of our system gently and kindly, without aggression.
[07:12:96] Because we've got the aggression within us is already
[07:18:27] enough.
[07:27:36] So thought is yang, silence is yin.
[07:41:07] And even the sweetest thought you can have
[07:44:81] is actually a step away.
[07:54:60] This needs to be understood.
[07:58:65] Is the mind an enemy? No, ultimately like as in in the the functional aspect of mind is not an enemy.
[08:06:52] But still it doesn't change the fact that the sweetest thought is a step away from your ultimate truth of what you are.
[08:14:52] This fact still remains.
[08:27:81] Love is experienced, not thought.
[08:34:88] Love is radiated and is all all all through everything.
[08:40:48] It is not something that's done. It is not a yang.

GLOSSARY

  • The Mitoté
A Toltec term for the internal noise of the unobserved mind; the harshness, control, and pain that must be cleared to soften the ground for Direct Presence.
  • The Greatest Con
The mind's subconscious ability to keep one unaware of the highest state of being, making one believe that thought is the ultimate or only reality.
  • Nematode Parasite
A clinical metaphor for the ego-structure that occupies and distracts the host (you) from recognizing Unconditioned Consciousness, feeding on attention and energy.
  • Softening the Ground
An inner engineering practice of dismantling harsh egoic patterns and cultivating a gentle, receptive inner state where Beingness can abide without being repelled.
  • Direct Realization
The immediate, non-conceptual recognition of one's true nature as Awareness, which is perpetually obscured by the mind's activity, even the 'sweetest thought.'
  • Yin of Yin
A term describing the extreme fragility and receptivity of pure Presence, which retreats at the slightest mental 'flinch,' aggression, or harshness.
  • Ego-Structures
The collection of conditioned patterns, agreements, and identities (the 'parasite') that create the illusion of a separate, persistent self.
  • The Direct Path
The method of turning attention directly inward to see what is already here, bypassing the need for beliefs, intermediaries, or progressive stages.
  • Beingness
The silent, aware presence referred to as 'the empress' in this talk; the fundamental, non-dual reality that remains when the Mitoté ceases.
  • Skillful Means
Precise methods or metaphors, like 'softening the ground,' used not as beliefs but as practical, technical tools for psychological deconstruction.
