About Rohan

Rohan’s first & short Spiritual Awakening or Satori was when he was about 9 years old on a path to primary school in the remote north-west coastal desert of Western Australia where going to school bare footed was the norm and the school oval was a giant dust pit.

Turning a corner on the footpath on the oval boundary on the way to school, he glanced to the right & there was a small mount with a groove from where bikes took a shortcut… saving almost zero time. For some reason it made no sense.

Instantly & inexplicably an incredibly wide & vivid experience of spaciousness opened up that was indescribable & beautiful yet scared him as it was so alien to his normal seeing & he closed immediately (usually the response when this is first seen).

It was 35 years before he understood what happened that day!
How was he to understand it when no one perhaps in that whole town or state knew what THAT was.

In 1994, another Satori occurred 5 days into a 10 day silent retreat in Brookton Perth during a Vipassana Meditation training through S.N. Goenka.

Rohan was in his bunk late at nigh at the retreat centre t feeling very awake & “scanning” his body as taught & it felt like a physical scraper was going over these sore lumps in his body.

Late into the night he could find nothing other than a tight lump on his inside right shoulder and was going back & forth over this spot in quite a degree of pain.

In a final “scrape” everything popped'.

”I felt blissful, weightless, free of the body, incredibly alive.

It was the best day of my life and became a benchmark of how vibrant and alive life could be. I also felt a little depressed afterwards as life now felt almost grey in comparison.

I had somehow been invited to the infinite & I knew it & missed it dearly.

I never knew existence could feel that incredible, it was by far a new benchmark of happiness, off the scale I had been given.

The next day after sleeping perhaps an hour, it was gone & I tried & tried to refind it.”

It was 17 years before he understood what happened that day!

S.N. Goenka’s discourses & mantra’s moved me very deeply as if it was something I once knew & loved, home like, yet alien to the world I knew.

I could not understand I had had an awakening or Satori as I clearly remember Goenka saying a drop at a time into a bucket & after many years we may awaken or words to that effect.

As I was new to Vipassana Meditation a quite confused western youth that didn’t know anything, it did not enter my mind for a milli-second that I had had a multi-hour glimpse of the ultimate truth that night in Brookton.

What we actually are beyond form & thought.

Samadhi.

In the physical world, Rohan is still working and existing fully in life employed as a “hands-on” Marine Engineer.

His work helping others Wake Up is basically Inner Engineering as he has been a skilled Engineering troubleshooter most of his working life & utilised that trained skillset to “hunt the shadows within” like a physical or electronic Engineering problem, which it essentially is.

He was also an extreme water sports business owner in Hawaii for six years before returning home to Yallingup in Western Australia where he resides now.

As mentioned, he is also now sharing his Self-Realisation teachings & discoveries with others mainly via Satsang (Gathering in Non-Dual Truth) and assistance in guiding the Inner Peace Foundation.

The IPF was formed to offer the teachings wider as friends and family of students were noticing their loved ones getting happier and freer without any trappings of dogma, beliefs or religion

Ultimately, freedom is returning to direct experience, facts over dreams… waking up!
