How To Forgive Someone - Use This Powerful Technique

In This Video:

True forgiveness isn't a mental exercise; it's a form of energetic engineering. This Satsang introduces Ho'oponopono, a potent Hawaiian practice for clearing the emotional charge from past grievances. The key is taking radical responsibility, not for the other person's actions, but for the energy you carry about the event. By systematically 'zeroing out' these energetic cords through recapitulation, you reclaim power that was being drained by the past, freeing it for deeper meditation and the direct realisation of Truth.

  • Bring to mind one person or event that still carries an energetic charge. Can you feel how holding onto it drains your direct presence?
  • What does it mean to take 100% responsibility for the energy you carry, even if the other person was 'in the wrong'?
  • Instead of mentally 'forgiving', what would it feel like to use a tool to surgically remove the energetic cord connected to a past hurt?
  • How much of The Committee's daily chatter is fueled by replaying old grievances and stories of blame?
  • Are you willing to do the structural maintenance of clearing your personal history, even if it feels uncomfortable, to accelerate your movement towards freedom?

TRANSCRIPT

[00:00] It might be uncomfortable and you may not want to forgive somebody. The trick is to assume that you're somehow responsible for all of the problems and interactions you've had. If you just assume within yourself that 'I'm somehow involved in this, I somehow pulled this into my life, and I'm gonna take responsibility for it.' [00:40] The practice for this is the Ho'oponopono practice. This mantra may be used in any environment, not just in song. When I sing this song, I like to bring a time to mind because it is a forgiveness practice. It's really important when you do this mantra that you come into your heart and you say it from your heart, because you can say 'I'm sorry' from your head and it can be very safe and very shallow. [02:15] So what you do with that is you keep going back to that person until there's nothing there anymore. There's no energetic polarity. There's no charge. This is just... it's zeroed out. You're taking out the electricity, you're taking out the current. It gets to a point where you're doing it, and it just seems pointless now. [03:59] This can help you break through. Break on through to the other side. If you can just visualize it as you need all your energy for waking up in the highest truth and peace and happiness and joy, the highest available. By holding onto these charges, you're draining your energy. [04:36] So you get out front, clean them all up. The mind's not running the show as much, because it's turned into thoughts. The trick is to assume that I'm somehow involved in this and I somehow pulled this into my life and take responsibility. I don't know if that's true, but it's a good working hypothesis. [06:09] It's a very fast way of moving towards truth. It's not a small thing to do, and it may take quite some time, but it's a very powerful tool.

GLOSSARY

  • Ho'oponopono
A traditional Hawaiian practice for forgiveness and reconciliation. In this context, it's used as an Inward Engineering tool to 'zero out' the energetic charge of past grievances by taking radical responsibility.
  • Recapitulation
A Toltec Shamanism practice of systematically reviewing one's personal history to reclaim energy lost in past interactions. It's the structural engineering behind the Ho'oponopono mantra.
  • Energetic Charge
The emotional and psychological residue attached to a memory or person. This charge acts like an energy leak, draining power that could be used for Direct Presence and meditation.
  • Zeroing Out
The process of applying a practice like Ho'oponopono until the energetic charge of an issue is completely neutralised. The goal is to reach a state where the memory holds no more power or polarity.
  • Taking Responsibility
Not accepting blame for another's actions, but owning the energetic reaction within yourself. It's a key that unlocks the door to dissolving the charge, moving from victimhood to empowerment.

Q&A

  • What is the Ho'oponopono forgiveness practice?
Ho'oponopono is a Hawaiian practice used as an Inward Engineering tool to clear the energetic and emotional charge from past grievances. Rather than a mental exercise, it involves taking responsibility for your own energy regarding an event and repeating a mantra from the heart until the charge is 'zeroed out'.
  • How does taking responsibility help with forgiveness?
In this context, taking responsibility is not about accepting blame but about owning your internal energetic reaction. This shift moves you from a position of victimhood to one of power, allowing you to dissolve the emotional charge you carry without needing an apology or change from the other person.
  • Why is clearing past grievances important for meditation?
Holding onto past hurts and grievances creates 'energetic charges' that continually drain your power and fuel the thinking mind ('The Committee'). By clearing these charges through practices like Ho'oponopono, you reclaim that energy, which leads to a quieter mind and a deeper capacity for meditation and Direct Presence.
  • Do I have to believe I was at fault to use this practice?
No. The teaching suggests using the idea that you 'pulled this into your life' as a working hypothesis. It's a skillful means to bypass the ego's need to be 'right' and get directly to the work of clearing the energetic blockage within you, which is the only part you can control.
  • How do I know when an emotional charge is 'zeroed out'?
You'll know the charge is gone when you can bring the person or memory to mind and there is no longer an energetic or emotional reaction. There's no polarity; it feels neutral. The story loses its power, and continuing the practice for that specific issue feels pointless because there's nothing left to clear.
