AWAKENED HEART MEDITATION w/ NonDuality Guide Rohan | Loving Kindness

In This Video:

This is not a practice to simply generate positive feelings, but a direct pointing to the heart's silent intelligence. By locating even a single 'happy cell' within, we open a doorway to the vast, unmoved reality we are, prior to thought. Difficulties like fear and grief are not enemies to be vanquished; they are transient clouds. The heart is the sky in which they appear. This guided meditation is an invitation to rest in that sky, allowing everything to be met by love.

  • Can you locate the felt sense of the heart's intelligence, even for a moment, without the mind trying to label it?
  • When a difficult emotion arises, is your first instinct to push it away, or could you allow it to meet the unwavering space of the heart?
  • What would it feel like to trust the silent knowing in your heart more than the promises and strategies of the thinking mind?

TRANSCRIPT

[00:02] According to science, there's 40,000 cells in your heart that are identical to brain cells, which is a super intelligent being. [00:14] ...those 40,000 happy cells deep in your heart. [00:27] The intelligence of the heart. [00:31] That doesn't have thoughts, it's just silently intelligent. It's a doorway to the vastness and intelligence beyond body mind. [00:42] See if you can locate, just one of them is fine. Get any one. You probably know the others are around it somewhere. [01:12] That's always there. If you choose to look. [02:00] Returning to your heart space. [02:36] Let them meet. Let them be friends. Because one is transient and one is doorway to the unmoved. [03:08] The difficulties are transient. What we are isn't. [06:10] Just let all the thoughts go. You're not the thoughts, you're not the sensations, they are just appearances in consciousness. You are consciousness or awareness. [10:21] Realization that everything is love. You just simply reconnected. The reference point is the heart’s center—the reliable doorway. [11:10] Trust love; let the mind go; let love rule. [11:53] The heart will never fail you.

GLOSSARY

  • Heart Intelligence
The silent, non-conceptual knowing that resides in the heart space. It's not emotional sentimentality but a direct, thought-free intelligence that serves as a doorway to the Substratum.
  • Happy Cells
A practical metaphor for locating the felt sense of love and stillness in the chest. Finding just one gives the mind a tangible anchor to begin resting in the heart space.
  • Doorway
A term for a specific entry point into Direct Presence. The heart's intelligence is a primary doorway, shifting attention from the mind's activity to the silent vastness you are.
  • The Unmoved
The timeless, formless Substratum of Being that is prior to all transient phenomena like thoughts, emotions, and sensations. It is the silent reality that never changes.
  • Appearances in Consciousness
What the Zen tradition might call 'phenomena'. All thoughts, feelings, and sensory data are seen as temporary events that arise and pass within the vast, unchanging space of awareness.

Q&A

  • What is heart intelligence in a non-dual context?
Heart intelligence is the silent, non-conceptual knowing that functions as a direct doorway to timeless awareness. Unlike the mind, it doesn't operate with thoughts. Rohan points to this as a reliable anchor to what is real, beyond the transient nature of emotions and stories.
  • How do you do the awakened heart meditation?
The practice begins by gently focusing attention in the chest to locate a single 'happy cell'—a tangible feeling of warmth or peace. From there, you allow this feeling to expand, meeting whatever arises (thoughts, pain, joy) without resistance, resting as the awareness in which it all appears.
  • How does this meditation help with difficult emotions like fear or grief?
Instead of avoiding or fixing difficult emotions, this practice invites them to 'meet' the heart space. You see that emotions are transient visitors, while the heart's presence is the unmoved, stable reality. This ends the inner conflict and allows emotions to pass naturally.
  • Is this different from regular loving kindness meditation?
While it cultivates love, the ultimate aim is Direct Realisation, not just a positive emotional state. The feeling of love is used as a 'doorway' to recognise yourself as the timeless awareness in which all feelings arise. It is a tool for seeing what you truly are.

“There’s nothing to add. What you are is prior to beliefs, thoughts and labels.
Here we explore and unveil the ultimate mystery of non-dual being.
Reality.”
