This is a direct teaching on a powerful but simple breathing technique designed to slow the stream of thoughts, energise the system, and bring you directly into the heart space. It's not a practice for a cushion; it's an engineering tool for real life. The core skill is learning to split your attention—to remain deep in Being while navigating the demands of your day. Once mastered, this transforms everything because you can be in practice continuously, cleansing and clearing the pattern of the mind as you live.
- When you imagine the breath moving as a circuit beyond the lungs, what sensations arise in the body?
- Can you notice the subtle shift in the system's energy the moment your tongue touches the roof of your mouth?
- During a simple daily task, can you try splitting your attention: 50% on the task and 50% on the feeling of the breath in your heart?

[00:00:11] When you're in times of difficulty or overthinking or stress or problems or challenges, or even if you have spare time, it's a very powerful technique. [00:00:26] If you can learn to do this while doing other things, it's going to transform your life very rapidly because you can practice all day while living a Western life. [00:00:34] As you enter deeper and deeper into being, you can be deep in being and in the world without leaving being behind. Doing so is splitting your attention into two, which is a very important skill. [00:01:06] So if you can breathe from your heart, and if you're able to do so, just allow yourself the possibility that your breath is moving around your body and not just in and out of your lungs. Okay? [00:01:23] You're breathing from your heart, and it goes down around the navel, around the groin, up the back, up the back of the spine, over the top of the head, and into the lungs. [00:01:50] Feeling the air coming into the bottom of your lungs. So you're pulling your stomach, your diaphragm down. Equal on both sides. [00:02:04] And then the out-breath is much simpler. It's just back up, out and up through your throat, out through your nose, and then the air goes into your heart and just does a couple of little circulations there. [00:03:18] It has a very much a cleansing effect. It'll slow down your thoughts, it'll energize your system, it'll bring you into your heart. Maybe even a little bit more peacefulness here. [00:03:44] I don't do it that often because it gets me so high. [00:03:56] And the tongue, I do it automatically, the tongue to the roof of your mouth. There's lots of fancy names in it from India that I don't remember any of them and I don't care to, but it connects front and back circuits. [00:04:34] Splitting attention into two is a very important skill for modern life and rapid transformation.
GLOSSARY
-
Kundalini Breath
A specific breathing technique where breath is visualized as a circuit moving from the heart, down the front of the body, up the spine, and back into the heart. It's used as a tool for cleansing, energising, and centering. -
Split Attention
A practical skill of being simultaneously aware of the inner state of Being and the external world. This allows for continuous practice and integration of presence into daily life, a key concept in Toltec stalking. -
Heart-Centered Breath
The act of initiating and concluding the breath from the heart space, rather than just the lungs. This shifts the energetic focus from the thinking mind (The Committee) to the seat of direct feeling and presence. -
Front and Back Circuits
The energetic pathways along the front and back of the body. In this practice, placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth connects these circuits, creating a more complete and powerful flow. -
Inward Engineering
The practical, systematic deconstruction of the mind's patterns. This breathing technique is a form of Inward Engineering applied to the body's energetic system to bypass the thinking process directly.
Q&A
-
What is the Kundalini breath technique Rohan teaches?
It's a practice where you breathe from the heart, visualizing the breath moving in a circuit down the front of the body, up the spine, over the head, and into the lungs. The exhale is simpler, moving from the nose back into the heart. It's designed to be practiced during daily life. -
How does this breathing technique help with overthinking?
The technique has a cleansing effect that directly slows down the stream of thoughts. By focusing on the physical sensation and the breath circuit, you shift attention away from 'The Committee' in your head and into the direct experience of the body, which naturally quiets the mind. -
Can I practice this meditation during my daily activities?
Yes, that is the primary intention. The goal is to develop 'split attention'—the ability to remain deep in the feeling of Being while simultaneously engaging with the world. Rohan emphasizes that this makes it a powerful tool for transformation in a modern, Western lifestyle. -
What is the purpose of putting the tongue on the roof of the mouth?
Placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth physically and energetically connects the 'front and back circuits' of the body. This creates a more unified and powerful flow, enhancing the cleansing and energising effects of the breathing practice.
