[00:00:00] The reason this work is not for the masses is because the masses are mad. Even spiritual masses are crazy half the time. Even more so actually. The modern yoga scene is a narcissistic madhouse now. [00:00:25] If anyone’s familiar with 'I Am That', which is a book by Nisargadatta Maharaj. People often ask me about this book, and I say I don't like it. And that gets a big reaction. [01:42] So why? Everyone loves it. It's amazing. It's like the bible of non-duality to some degree, and extremely deep work. But the problem is, these aren't generic words for everybody. That's not how he taught. [02:25] When people go and read wide, wide literature, the mind, the ego, handpicks what you’re going to hear and what you’re going to understand. It creates a new spiritual identity. [03:09] The spoken word is live, anything else is dead. Written words are dead. They're dead. You can get an idea of what's going on, but you may also get lost. You become somebody doing spiritual work with lots of knowledge, but you're still stuck. [04:04] A live teacher speaks just for you. They know your cage, and they give you the key to unlock it. But those words are just for you. This is very misunderstood. [04:30] Even live teachings can be generic. If a teacher's got a large audience, with every new person that walks in, he has to go wider and dilute more so everyone can hear. And many assume those words are for everybody, but they are watered down to fit everybody. [05:12] The mystery schools are ancient. They’ve usually kept a low profile for good reason, because the work is very personal. It's not for the masses.
